The Good Dog Foundation
The Good Dog Foundation trains volunteer “Good Dog Teams” of owner and pet to patients in local nursing homes and hospitals. This “animal-assisted therapy” can make a great difference in the lives of patients.
Both owner and trainer must complete a ten-session training program so they will be equipped to operate together as an animal-assisted therapy team. Volunteers may then be scheduled to visit patients at facilities in our neighborhood, such as Castle Senior Living, Gilda’s Club and Methodist Hospital.
More importantly, “Things to Know About Becoming a Good Dog Team” are available at www.thegooddogfoundation.org/things.html.
Application: Potential volunteers must complete a pre-screen application form available at www.thegooddogfoundation.org/volunteer.html.
