Mercy Home for Children
For 145 years, Mercy Home has nurtured persons in need. Today, they support persons with developmental disabilities in living full and interesting lives. They do this through residential, supportive and respite programs, each of which emphasizes the importance of being part of the communities in which one lives. It is the mission of Mercy Home to assure the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities through the recognition of each person’s inherent dignity and absolute right to a life filled with learning and love. Our church helped the Mercy Home repaint their band room over a year ago, and they are eager to have us volunteer again. There are a variety of ways that volunteers can help:
Volunteer Opportunity 1: Saturdays for about 2 hours to work in their respite program as group aides for children with autism. They would assist staff with arts and crafts, in-house activities and music and dance.
Volunteer Opportunity 2: An art program that meets every other Tuesday night.
Volunteer Opportunity 3: 2 adult programs.
Volunteer Opportunity 4: Open to arranging one time projects.
There is a training workshop required prior to volunteering.
