John Sweet, Assistant Pastor

Sweet Family Large

Having grown up in Lakeland, FL, John first came to New York City to work with Reformed University Fellowship, a campus ministry at NYU, in the fall of 1998. In 2001, John married Kathy Adams, a converted New Yorker originally from Los Angeles, and promptly dragged her down to Orlando, FL where he earned his seminary degree at Reformed Theological Seminary. Both he and Kathy hoped to return to New York upon completion of his degree, and Park Slope Presbyterian provided the opportunity to participate in a church planting internship. John and Kathy moved to Park Slope in August, 2004 and have since added two sons to the family: Micah (2) and Asher (9 mos).

Ordained as a minister in September of 2004, John has since been serving as Assistant Pastor at PSPC. At this time, he has been approved to begin planning a new church plant in the Ditmas Park neighborhood, and we trust he will be the lead pastor beginning worship in the fall of 2008.

John has a wide range of interests and hobbies, and he would be glad to tell you about them over a cup of coffee or your favorite libation.
