Megan Prince

An abstract artist, Megan Prince was born in California and raised in eastern Washington. She moved from Seattle to Brooklyn to attend Brooklyn College, CUNY for her master's of fine art, graduating in 2008. Before moving to New York, Prince received her bachelor of fine arts in painting and a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from University of Washington.

Between 2002 and 2005, Prince founded and ran the Fine Art Community (FAC), a Seattle group whose aim is to help artists gain confidence and insight in their work.

A prolific, mixed-media artist, Prince's work has been included in eight New York exhibitions over the past year, including shows curated by emerging and established curators, and has been awarded several grants and fellowships. She is currently a studio fellow with the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in Midtown.

Lately, Prince has begun exploring how to create sculptures using soft materials like twine, wool and suede, as well as tougher but malleable materials like rubber, which turn up in newer bodies of work like Pet Project and Writings on the Wall (images below). She also continues to paint.
