Sunday School in a New Format
Dec 14, 2009
Because spiritual growth involves the transformation of more than just our minds, for this spring we've worked hard to re-format our Sunday School in such a way that our whole selves are engaged in learning and obeying the Scriptures. We will add components that are directed to our affections, our physicality, as well as our intellect. Please check out one of the following opportunities.
City Living--Begins January 10th
A Workshop for Urban Christians
This workshop aims to cultivate Christian living in an urban context through biblical study, interactive discussion, group prayer and cooperative practices. While group feedback will inevitably shape the content of the workshops, our facilitators hope to tackle the following themes: Dating in the City, Spirituality in the Apartment, Christian Marriage, the Urban Family, God and my Gender, Work Dynamics, Christian Friendship, Sharing Public and Private Space, Busyness, Money in an Expensive City. The “Women’s Workshop” is facilitated by Amy Bowser and the “Men’s Workshop” by Pastor Jamison Galt.
Praying with the Church--Begins January 17th
We want it, we need it, we tell ourselves over and over we’ll do more of it...prayer. Join Pastor Brian during the Sunday School hour for not so much a class on prayer, but a time to pray together as the church family. The class will begin with a very short devotion to inform and shape our practice of prayer. The rest of the time will be spent in prayer together – for the worship service, our church, our community, our borough, our city, our nation, and our world. Meeting together for prayer every Sunday will bless the life of our church family. We also hope it will encourage all of us to make use of this spiritual discipline with greater depth and consistency.
